CARE TIPS
Love your silver, treat it with TLC! My jewels are straight from nature, so no roughhousing or extreme stuff! Variscite and Turquoise soak up oils, lotions, and can switch shades permanently. Splashy times? Better take 'em off!
COOL FACTS FROM THE MINER
"Most of the time when I dig Variscite out of the ground, the colors I first see are nothing like what they end up being once it dries out. Let me explain, Variscite is a hydrated aluminum phosphate, and it contains a good amount of moisture in its natural habitat. Once removed that water content dissipates and the Variscite becomes more opaque, thus changing the color. For this reason, I like to hold on to some material longer than others to let it fully dry out. This is why you never want to wear your Variscite jewelry in any water, and also make sure to keep it far away from lotions or any chemicals."
HAND MINED IN THE USA
My son Ryan hand-mines the stones I use in Nevada. They are natural formations of the earth, and as such may have inclusions, pits, veins, and uneven texture. No two are alike, and each one is uniquely created by Mother Nature and time! Most of the cabochons (a gemstone that has been shaped + polished but not faceted) I use have a backing to stabilize the stone. It is common for stones such as Variscite and Turquoise to use a process to stabilize the stone. This process can vary and affects the price you pay for that material. I use high-quality stones extracted by hand (not explosives) that mostly require no stabilization.
